Air

Air is the second of the elementals to learn. Once you have a strong base of Earth, the breath and energy of Air is best had. Correlations it air: all types of birds (I bet you couldn't guess that one) the color yellow and Springtime (although there is some argument Spring is fire and Summer is Air, it really depends on your school of thought).

Where Earth is solid, Air is free. Air is the second fastest vibration. Air is also one of the easiest elements to use as it is all around you. To use that energy, visualize on the feel of air moving, if you have trouble focusing you can use a fan and focus on the feeling of air moving past and around you.

Until next time

Earth

There are four main elementals that I use and a great majority of people use in my experience. They are Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. In that order they are best learned.

The reason to start with Earth is to ground yourself (no pun intended). You will find that each of these elementals have many correlations to them. With Earth knowing that the North, all plants, and many earth born animals (wolves, bears, ect.), minerals and rocks are part of the correlations.
The last thing to remember with the energy of Earth is that is has the slowest vibration, both literally and in the astral sense.

A good way to understand this is sitting under a tree and visualizing all the parts (from roots to leaves) of the tree and just meditating on it.

I will likely expound on this later.

Warning

So I just realized I should give the same warning that was given to me when I started leaning magick.

Once you begin a journey into the Veil, you can not go back. That's to say, don't use magick unless you are really ready, it's not a toy! If you abuse magick, you will find that existence will abuse you. It's the law of balance or moderation; there is no good and evil. There is push and pull, light and shadow, positive and negative, and it will always correct itself if you screw with it.

And now I should talk about the Veil. In case you've ever wondered "Why can't I see magick?" or "Why can't I see the Fae or Dragons or monsters?" That's because of the Veil. The Veil is the thing that separates our mundane world from the realm of magick, it's also what let's us work in secret. I mean imagine the chaos is a mountain that had the soul of a dragon woke up and decided to walk across the a country... it would be bad, people would die and panic. So with the Veil in place, if said dragon decides to get up and move, the mountain itself stays put and the dragon can go do whatever it wants and no body notices; expect that there was a strange wind and some trees fell over that day.

In other words, unless you know what your looking for, the magickal world remains hidden. Which goes back to the warning, if you learn to find the magickal world, it can find you. So in the above scenario; while most people barely notice anything, you get to sense the dragon the size of a mountain moving around, and the dragon gets to sense you. The world is very dangerous anyway. But magick users have a duty to maintain the balance and make sure that the things that go bump in the night don't do anything but scare people.

Keep all that in mind if you choose to learn anything from what I say.

Energy

When people use the word "energy" they can mean several different things; from how someone seems to be energetic to the speed of atoms moving. So for future posts to make since I think I should define the word for my use.

Energy is the most basic form of magick. Everything is energy, everything has energy. It is much like your soul, if you will, in the fact that everything has it's own distinctive energy. Energy is what any magick user uses to understand the world around them. (Note: I feel at this point I should explain why I spell "magic" with a "k" at the end. I do this to separate spiritual powers from street magic or parlor tricks.) For instance energy is used to tell the difference between the air around you and glamor created by the Fae (Note: Fae = Faerie Folk).

So for magickal understanding: the basis of magick is the use of your own energy and the energies that help you.

I think this post creates a working definition of energy, but if anythings unclear, please feel free to ask for clarification. ^-^

Sprinkling

"Sprinkling" is how a storm begins (after of course the clouds form and the pressure changes, ect.) So the point of this post is to set the mood and theme of the blog. Now for the squeaky hammer to the head: the theme is a play on words with my name: I am John Storm... get it, "Storm"...."Storm Drain".... If you don't get it yet, I'm sorry.

My initial plan for this blog is to talk about my working knowledge of the art of (for lack of a better word) Occult. Now before you stop reading and excuse this as a teenager without a clue. First, I'm 20 (yes I know, that's still really makes me a kid). Second, I grew up a firm believing Southern Baptist; that's to say then ten commandments are to be followed as closely as you can, and either you serve Jesus Christ or you go to Hell, end of discussion. I am now a much happier, open minded, hippietastic Pagan.

This change did not happen over night, and I owe it to a few different people, but mostly my lovely wife (don't argue philosophy or theology with her). Also some reading and life experiences.
So, useful personal Pagany info.
Primary elements: Fire and Shadow
Patrons: Apollo and Hades
Other: 12 years of swordsmanship (I know that doesn't seem "Pagany" but trust me for now, I'll explain later)

Anyway, there's your sprinkling.
Peace and Love.
